What we are.

Sonic Story is a unique gaming experience when it comes to text-based RP. Instead of freeform, the popular method, we have adapted a story lead, or Game Master. The GM structures a complete tale from beginning to end, giving both choice and direction in the role playing environment. The primary role of the GM is to ensure no player gets left behind, that there are no surprise plot twists that conflict with another player's story goals, and that the story moves along smoothly with good dramatic structure.

We want to stick true to the Sonic the Hedgehog video game families. That's why you'll see use of item boxes, rings, and possibly star posts or springs. Expect Zones with alliterative titles and Chaos Emeralds, and really bad puns. Yep, we get into the good stuff. Even item upgrades make an appearance.

And, like any Sonic game, with the exception of Sonic & Knuckles, there will be no direct reference to previous games. So if you really hated Sonic Heroes, don't worry. Pretend it never happened. Same goes for if you missed Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Actually, it never happened anyway, according to the ending.

Also, we invite original characters and Archie characters. This may sound weird, but they'll be introduced to the story just like game characters are introduced to the comic. They will be new to the canon game characters, and the canon characters will be new to your character. They did it in Spinball, but we're doing it better.

We also meet occasionally in chats on AIM, but you do not have to be an AIM user to participate in the forums. Nor do you have to be a member of the forums to participate in the chats.

As for the story, this arc we introduced the characters to a country based essentially off of Spain, with the capital city of Meia Vía. For more information on the beautiful Meia Vía, visit the forum and visit Stage Select.

Who we are.

Currently the Sonic Story family tallies in at nine players, including the Head GM and the Villain GM. If you're a member and don't want to be listed here, let me know! Players are as follows:

Out of the above, some characters are still available. Some players are not static and are open to handing over their characters to a good player. Keep in mind, though, that it is ultimately up to me and that person whether we feel you are capable of doing the character justice. Additionally, some are only half-claimed. Those characters are: Shadow*, Rouge, Tails, Bean, Espio.

*(With that said, please keep in mind that Shadow is a popular character. Many have tried out for the role. If you are interested, please understand that we take the character very seriously. He is neither emo, pouting in a corner and crying for Maria; nor is he hardcore-badass with a love for destruction. He is neutral in nature, following orders for a living. He is goal-oriented. He is sympathetic to others' needs and desires, but objective. The mission comes first, unless someone is in danger. He's not anti-social, just socially inexperienced. I encourage people to try out as Shadow, because I do not always like to play him, but you must understand just how adaptive and, well, "normal," he is in comparison to the other characters.)

The current plot.

When a new gem exhibit opens at the Museum, a familiar villain steps in to claim the star of the show: a Chaos Emerald. With reports of similar occurrences taking place elsewhere, there's no knowing just how many Eggman has in his possession. Sonic arrives in Meia Vía just in time to get the news.
